The Old Man and the Sea

Walking along the evening Chistoprudny Boulevard, you will almost certainly notice a queue at one of the local restaurants. The restaurant has a very literary name, it is impossible to reserve a table there, but you can safely try both the usual and exotic sea creatures, paying no more than in an ordinary fast-food restaurant.

The restaurant works in a self-service format: there are no waiters, the current menu can be studied directly at the cash desk, to get your order you have to say your name and wait until it is shouted by the kitchen staff. The atmosphere of the place reminds one of a market-day pier, or a quaint Asian bazaar (you can even spot anime figures in the shop-windows near scallops and oysters), or an American warehouse with countless cans of preserves. The menu includes fresh seafood (be sure to try the scallop and sea urchin), Asian-inspired dishes (like Steak, Eel and Unagi), burgers, tartare, ceviche and carpaccio. There is a small alcoholic list with wines from Africa, Europe and Russia (served here in bright plastic glasses), freshly squeezed juices and morses.

The undeniable advantage of the restaurant is the combination of convenient location, large portions and reasonable prices. Oysters start at 150 rubles apiece, urchin costs a little more - 180 rubles, a burger with crab - 795 rubles. The restaurant does not have a website, nor does it have a delivery service, so the best thing to do is to see the menu and interiors with your own eyes.

Take a table with a view of the Patriarchal Ponds, watch the coordinated work of chefs in the open kitchen, make an order and get ready for a gastronomic adventure - a vivid taste experience is guaranteed.
