Bolshaya and Malaya Nikitskaya Streets

Arbatskaya Metro, Tverskaya Metro

About the place

In the 15th-16th centuries it was along Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street that the road from the Kremlin to Veliky Novgorod ran. Here you will find the Tchaikovsky Conservatory with its cozy courtyard, Mayakovsky's red-brick theater, the typical Soviet building of TASS, the romantic Church of the Great Ascension, where Pushkin got married to Goncharova, and many other landmarks of cultural Moscow. The routes of Bolshaya Nikitskaya and Malaya Nikitskaya are interesting, varied and photogenic. Take at least a day to explore this part of the city.
