The city with the status corresponding to the category of regional subordination in the Sverdlovsk region of Russia, the administrative center of Kamyshlovsky district, forms the municipal formation Kamyshlovsky urban district with the only settlement in its composition.

Historical background

In November 1668, Semyon Mironovich Budakov, the clerk of the Pyshma sloboda, informed the Verkhotursky voivode I. Y. Koltovsky that peasants and Cossacks, who had been transported here in 1666-1668 from Irbit and Pyshma slobodas, had founded the Kamyshevskaya sloboda. And by the decree of the Verkhotursky voivode, who ordered Budakov "up the Pyshma river to find a place and build an ostrog", in 1668 the Kamyshlovka ostrog was founded on the Kamyshlovka river. The construction of the stockaded town for "protection from Kalmyk and Bashkir warriors" was finished in 1678-1679. Since 1687 Kamyshlovka sloboda.

The main occupation of the inhabitants at the beginning of the XVIII century was farming, and peasants were assigned to the state-owned factories - Uktusky and Kamensky.

In 1763 the Siberian highway passed through this settlement. The city became the bread-trading center of the Trans-Urals, supplying grain and flour all over the Urals. In XVIII-XIX centuries there were 3 fairs: Sretenskaya - from February 1 to February 9, Tikhonovskaya - from June 13 to June 20, Pokrovskaya - from September 26 to October 1. Merchants from Tobolsk, Tyumen, Kungur, Nizhny Novgorod and Orenburg traded at the fairs. Stone trade rows, commodity warehouses and storage facilities were built. The main commodity was grain sent to Irbitskaya Sloboda, then by the river Nitsa and further by the rivers Tura and Tobol grain was delivered to Tobolsk. The sloboda was a supplier of falcons for the tsar's court.

In 1773-1775 the sloboda and all the neighboring settlements were engulfed by Pugachev's revolt.

In 1781 the city became a district of the Perm vicegerency. In the city flour mills, blacksmiths, salotoppen, distillery (in 1883), tannery (in 1858), brickworks, and also cottage industries - pottery, carpentry, tailoring, shoemaking, wool-working began to work. There was developed a carriage on Siberian, Irbit and Shadrinsk tracts, horse breeding was developing.

In December 1885 the Trans-Siberian railroad was opened and the station building was built. In 1871 women's gymnasium was opened, in 1907 - men's progymnasium, in 1888 - theological school, in 1899 city school, and also two church-parish schools worked.

In July 1918 Kamyshlov was occupied by forces of Siberian army of Provisional Siberian government, in July 1919 - by Red Army. The territory of Kamyshlov uyezd was covered by the West Siberian uprising of 1921.

In 1924-1934 raion center of Ural region, from 1934 - Sverdlovsk region.

During the Great Patriotic War, Kamyshlov diatomite (white clay), which has healing and wound-healing properties, was widely used in the treatment of the wounded. In 1941, the diatomite plant was evacuated from Leningrad to the diatomite plant by the insulator plant "Proletarian" for the production of electrical porcelain, thus the Uralizolator plant was founded.

On February 22, 1946 the city was granted the status of a city of regional subordination.

In 1960, an electrical plant of the Ministry of Railways was founded on the basis of a locomotive depot and workshops of signaling and communication, a metalworking plant, in 1967 - glue plant, "Leskhozmash" on the basis of mechanical, road machinery plant, in 1975 - chrome leather plant, poultry farm, dairy plant, bakery, in 1953 - sewing factory.

On February 1, 1963, the Council of Workers' Deputies of the town of Kamyshlov was subordinated to the Sverdlovsk Regional Council of Workers' Deputies..

By 1996, a municipality had been formed town of Kamyshlov.

On November 10, 1996, the municipality was included in the regional register.

Since December 31, 2004, the town of Kamyshlov has been granted the status of an urban district.

Since January 1, 2006 the name Kamyshlovsky urban district was approved.

On February 15, 2016, the Kamyshlovsky City Court was abolished.
