Armiansk

It was founded in the early 18th century by Crimean Greeks and Armenians who fled Turkey and resettled from the fortress of Or-Kapu (Perekop). Known since the 1730s under the name Ermeni Bazar (from the Crimean Tatar - Armenian Bazaar). In 1921 it was renamed to Armyansk. It received the status of the city as part of the independent Ukraine in 1993.

In the vicinity of Armyansk, on the border with the Kherson region, there is the legendary Perekopskii rampart. It stretches from the Karkinit Gulf to Sivash for about 7 kilometers. In ancient times it was guarded by three fortresses. The largest and most fortified of them was Or Kapu, it was surrounded by several moats; a well preserved fragment of the wall of the fortress, which is located on the bay. The thickness of the wall is about two meters, the masonry is perfectly flat. The depth of the ditch in some places reaches fifteen meters. There are a lot of Scythian burial mounds in the vicinity of Armyansk.

In the autumn of 2017 in the village of Perekop search team "Memory of Perekop" was discovered a mass grave of soldiers and officers of the 2nd army of Vasily Dolgorukov during the conquest of Crimea during the Russian-Turkish war of 1768-1774. This is reported on the website of the Central Museum of Tauris. In total, found the remains of 861 people buried in mass graves.

In late August 2018, an environmental disaster occurred at the Crimean Titan plant in Armyansk with the release of sulfur dioxide, which causes "skin irritation, mucous membranes of the nose and eyes, and in the worst cases - pulmonary edema." School-age children were evacuated from the city for two weeks. The cause of the emergency was the drying up of the plant's acid reservoirs, which were not replenished with scarce water (the water supply to the North Crimean Canal was depleted due to the cessation of water supply). There are no ways to solve the problem quickly: there is not enough fresh water in Crimea, and the supply of salty water from Sivash to the acid reservoirs will lead to chemical reactions with unpredictable consequences.
