Historical background
In 1958 the construction of the tent city of the first builders in the village of Padali-Vostochnoye (the original name of Amursk) began, where young people arrived on vouchers of the Khabarovsk Regional Komsomol Committee for the construction of the Komsomol Pulp and Paperboard Mill.
In September 1960, the Central Committee of the Komsomol declared the construction of the Amur Pulp and Paperboard Mill and Amursk an All-Union strike Komsomol construction site. In 1962 Amursk settlement became a district center. In 1973, by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR working settlement Amursk was transformed into a city of regional subordination. In 1983, the furniture factory of the Amur Timber Processing Combine started operating. In the early 1990s, the combine became known as "Amur Furniture and Woodworking Combine".
